Oz Wine Show FAQ
What is The Oz Wine Show?
The Oz Wine Show is Australia’s first wine related podcast. It is a free and independent, online radio show produced by two Sydney guys with a passion for talking, tasting and sharing wine. This site (www.ozwineshow.com) contains not just the audio podcasts, but also written news, reviews and commentary about wine in Australia. Please bookmark the site [ctrl + d] or subscribe to the RSS feed and get involved as much or as little as you like.
What is a podcast and how to I listen?
Scoll down to the “Podcast and Blog FAQ” Section.
How long and often is each podcast?
In each episode we’ll bring you around 30 minutes of wine related news, reviews and interviews from either in the studio (Hugo’s spare room or Mick’s office) or out and about at wine tastings or cellar doors. We’re hoping to ramp up to a weekly podcast release in the near future, but they are a bit sporadic at present. Written stuff is a lot more regular though, so don’t forget to check the site regularly.
How can I comment or send feedback?
There’s 3 options;
Comment on individual articles in the “comments” field at the bottom of each post (click the post title and scroll to the bottom of the page).

Audio Comments can be left via your computer by clicking the “insert audio comment” link at the bottom of the page.

Podcast and Blog FAQ
What is a podcast?
Podcasts are segments of audio on the internet that you listen to on your computer or download to your mp3 player. Essentially they are short, free, online radio shows. The beauty of podcasts is that they are “time-shifted” – e.g. you can listen to them whenever you want. No more cheesy drive-time radio! Each episode can either be downloaded individually from this site, or you can have them sent to you automatically through free software known as a “podcatcher” (Apple’s iTunes is one of the easiest to use and you can manage all your music as well).
What is a blog?
A blog, shortened from weblog, is a type of website where the most recent entries (posts) are displayed at the top of the homepage. Blogs provide commentary on a particular subject, such as food, politics or in this case wine. The beauty of blogs is that they are a two way communication between authors and readers and you are encouraged to comment on individual posts in the positive or negative.
What is an RSS feed?
An RSS feed allows you to subscribe to articles and podcasts posted on this site. It is basically a list of the posts in order of newest to oldest. You can paste the feed address (http://feeds.feedburner.com/ozwineshow) into your favourite “podcatcher” for audio or “RSS reader” for written posts.
What RSS Feed Should I Use?
The official feed to get all written and spoken content from this site is http://feeds.feedburner.com/ozwineshow . It looks long but just copy and paste it into which ever software you use to read blogs and listen to podcasts. If your found the show by browsing in iTunes and clicking the “subscribe” button, then just leave it as is.
What’s the best way to listen?
How do I subscribe?
Both the audio podcasts and written articles are in the one feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/ozwineshow). Most “podcatchers” only download the posts with audio or video in them, so if you want to subscribe to the written stuff, then either bookmark the website and stop by every so often, or subscibe to the feed in a “feed reader” too. Simple and free feed readers (which you make as your desktop homepage) include google and netvibes. Alternatively, click here to subscribe to The Oz Wine Show by Email and have notification of new articles sent to your inbox.
There are many different “podcatchers”, but they all do a similar job – i.e. let you search through podcast directories, listen to samples, subscribe to the ones you like, manage subscriptions and transfer them to an mp3 player if you wish. Once subscribed, new episodes will be automatically downloaded when you load the program. You control your subscriptions and can delete them at any time.
Which podcatcher to use?
iTunes is free and is one of the best, even if you don’t own an iPod. Click here to download iTunes and then click here to go to our iTunes page. From there, click on “subscribe”. For a complete guide to downloading and managing podcasts see Apple’s website.
Click on one of the podcatcher buttons below if you use it instead.
Can I listen on my mobile phone?
Yes, you can download the latest episode to your mobile by clicking here but unfortunately it’s restricted to the US only at the moment.
For Industry
What is the Industry Insider series about?
The Industry Insider series of podcasts is aimed at winery owners (big and small), industry players (distributors, PR, marketing, etc) and general wine lovers who are intrerested in the business side of the wine industry.
I own a winery, can I send you bottles to review?
Is the Pope a Catholic? If you produce a wine that you like us to review, send two samples to 4 Hearne Street, Mortdale, 2210, Sydney, Australia. Please note that the receipt of any item by The Oz Wine Show does not imply an evaluation will be conducted. Should an evaluation be conducted, The Oz Wine Show makes no guarantee that said evaluation will be made public or that it will be positive.
Can I send in a press release or an event for the Enhanced Australian Wine Event Calendar?
Please do. Email any wine related press releases, news material or calendar events to “hugo[at]theozwineshow.com” (NB: news items featured on The Oz Wine Show are at the discretion of The Oz Wine Show).
Can I sponsor this podcast or website?
You sure can. Do you have a wine related product or service that our smart and tech savvy, wine loving listeners would like to hear about? We are more than happy to speak with you regarding sponsorship. Email Hugo Sharp via “hugo[at]ozwineshow.com” for details. Please note that we only allow non-producers to advertise on the site to ensure our impartiality. Youocan however submit wine samples for review (see above for details).
[...] Just went searching on Itunes to see if there are any podcasts about Low-GI diets (don’t ask) and found a whole feature box about wine. Even better was that this little production was the first one in the list! Now this is only on the Australian version of the iTunes Music store (podcast section) but it still bought a big smile to my face when i saw it. So a big welcome to any new listeners who may have found us from the feature box. You can hear each show through iTunes or click the play button next to each show on the website. Click here for more info about the show and please feel free to leave comments or ask questions. While i’m at it, if anyone feels so inclined, we’d really appreciate some more comments about the show on the OWS page in Itunes. Click this link here… or for a short time click the link on the podcast front page [...]
