Hugo,
This is really both entertaining and educational. I don't know if you are still doing this, or if I have found it after you have moved on, but I am just listening to all of these podcasts. How good is it. I am learning stacks from so many people on your site. I really appreciate the opportunity. I am not sure how you make it pay, but I hope you can
Cheers

I recently attended Hospice duRhone in California where Dave gave a seminar. I was lucky enough to do his wine dinner too. I'm a big fan, having studied wine making in Australia. I've always enjoyed his wines which were a bit atypical for a lot of Barossa offerings. The talk explains why. I took the time to transcribe most of the talk if anyone wants a copy, just email me. Thanks, Hugo. I'm so glad I found your site. Makes me homesick for Australia, but lets me feel like I can check in now and again and catch up on what's happening in my favorite wine regions.

Very interesting listening to winemaker speak the speak, when it would be hard to get someone seemingly so knowledgable talk in depth in regular conversation. I'm listening to it now (second time) to learn more. Now I just have to get my hands on some Woodcutter's.

Enjoying your work, Hugo, thanks.

Hurrah, Hugo!

I'm so glad you were able to get this one up and out to all of us. Dave Powell, is funny, humble, forthright, and really knows his stuff. There are so many rewarding bits to this podcast I'm sure I'll be digesting it a few more times in the near future. Some interesting bits that really stuck out for me was his comparison of the Steading and Juveniles (pretty much the same blend with Steading aged in oak and Juveniles not), and the Roussanne varietal that he's cultivating.

Finally, it was interesting to hear his thoughts on single vineyard vs. blends in Barossa Valley Shiraz, and his comments on the history of the Run Rig and how it is relatively easy to make, that it started with was it 3? lots and now has expanded to 8? I think I'm going to have to listen to that part again. Also how the Woodcutters (IMHO - an outstanding bargain esp. 2003) for David, gives him much more of a challenge to get right as he has so many different grapes going into the final blend.

Keep 'em coming Hugo! We're loving it over here in Wisconsin, USA!
